Fairness: Mike Kreidler | The Seattle Occasions

Re: “WA insurance chief Mike Kreidler accused of using racist slurs; staff allege mistreatment” [April 17, Local News]:

Mike Kreidler should step down. His apology, referred to as a nonapology, and statements equivalent to, “If somebody took offense to it I feel bad about that” and “It was a joke” have been heard so many occasions by folks of colour and ladies that it’s simply plain inconsiderate.

He is proud about being politically right. Our insurance coverage commissioner, as he travels the world, is proud that he should work at making an attempt to not offend the folks he works with however doesn’t dispute most of the complaints towards him. This isn’t the Nineteen Nineties. I stay day-after-day remembering that everybody needs to be heard or not less than handled humanely. It isn’t one thing I take satisfaction in, I simply merely do it.

But worst is an elected official who believes he’s above the legal guidelines and guidelines meant to guard everybody and to supply security and accountability. Also, together with white-supremacy tradition, his chief deputy, who additionally must step down, has assured Kreidler that the principles don’t apply to him and that the staff will merely should take it or go away. The time has come for a brand new insurance coverage commissioner.
