Delighted fans have taken to social media to praise the new trailer for the long-awaited film, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore – but were left baffled as they wondered where a major character from the series is.
The full trailer for the latest instalment in the Wizarding World franchise and prequel to the Harry Potter series was released today, following a teaser trailer last week, with excited fans taking to social media to praise how incredible the new film looks.
One said: “It looks so good and so much more fun than CoG [Crimes of Grindlewald]”
Another simply said, “YESSS”, while a second said, “It looks epic.”
Many more fans also added, “I can’t wait.”
However, many fans posted crying emojis when they realised that one of the series major characters, Tina Goldstein, does not appear in the trailer.
“Where’s Tina?” asked many fans, who had last seen the character at the end of the second instalment, The Crimes of Grindlewald.
Someone else wrote: “Me trying to find Tina Goldstein in every scene in this trailer!” with a squint-eyed GIF.
Another fan included a GIF of Oprah backing away which they captioned: “Me after not seeing Tina Goldstein in the new Fantastic Beasts trailer!”
However, Tina’s sister Queenie makes an appearance in a scene where she is hugging the love of her life, Jacob.
While fans may have to wait to find out if Tina Goldstein makes a return in the latest film, the full trailer promises to take them back to familiar places from the Harry Potter films.
Early in the trailer, Newt Scamander can be seen walking through a snow-covered Hogsmeade village, while in other scenes, fans were treated to glimpses of a Quidditch player, students eating in the great hall and a step back into the Room of Requirement.
While not much is known about the plot, the new trailer shows Dumbledore assembling a group including Newt Scamander and his brother Theseus, friend Jacob, assistant Bunty and new friends Kama and Lally in an attempt to defeat Grindelwald.
As the trailer begins, Jude Law’s Albus Dumbledore can be heard saying to Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander: “The world as we know it is coming undone.
“Grindelwald is pulling it apart with hate. If we are to defeat him, you’ll have to trust me.”
During the narration, the trailer also showed the latest addition to the cast, Mads Mikkelsen, in his first scenes as Gellert Grindlewald since taking over the role from Johnny Depp for the upcoming film.
Joining them is also Ezra Miller who returns as Credence, with scenes showing Credence and Dumbledore locked in tense battle with one another.
With the new trailer promising familiar faces, new creatures from the Wizarding World and an insight into Dumbledore’s past, fans will have to wait a few more months to see what happens, when the film is released in the UK on April 8 2022.
