Janelle Monáe introduced a little bit of the longer term to the Met Gala, donning a glittering Ralph Lauren look.

The Grammy-nominated singer left their hats at house for a glittering headpiece connected to a black and white figure-hugging robe.

“This is gilded glamour from the future,” Monáe informed The Associated Press. “I came here from the future.”

It’s no shock the singer-song author would carry their affinity for sci-fi to Monday’s Met Gala.

Monáe, who just lately mentioned they’re nonbinary, launched a sci-fi e book titled “The Memory Librarian: And Other Stories of Dirty Computer.” The e book elaborates on Monae’s Afrofuturistic album “Dirty Computer” and shares tales with a number of different collaborators about how totally different threads from “queerness, race, gender plurality and love — become tangled with future possibilities of memory and time in such a totalitarian landscape.”

“I’m still an art school kid student,” Monáe informed Vogue.
