Met Gala second | Janelle Monáe stuns in futuristic look

Janelle Monáe introduced a little bit of the longer term to the Met Gala, donning a glittering Ralph Lauren look.

The Grammy-nominated singer left their hats at residence for a glittering headpiece connected to a black and white figure-hugging robe.

“This is gilded glamour from the future,” Monáe instructed The Associated Press. “I came here from the future.”

It’s no shock the singer-song author would convey their affinity for sci-fi to Monday’s Met Gala.

Monáe, who just lately mentioned they’re nonbinary, launched a sci-fi ebook titled “The Memory Librarian: And Other Stories of Dirty Computer.” The ebook elaborates on Monae’s Afrofuturistic album “Dirty Computer” and shares tales with a number of different collaborators about how completely different threads from “queerness, race, gender plurality and love — become tangled with future possibilities of memory and time in such a totalitarian landscape.”

“It’s supporting LGBTQI plus communities through Afrofuturism,” Monáe instructed Vogue on the carpet.

Asked how lengthy their look took to drag collectively, Monáe raised two fingers: “Two minutes.”

As an artist, Monae mentioned they cherished having the ability to work with a workforce to create the glamorous search for the evening.

“I’m still an art school kid student,” Monáe instructed Vogue.
