NASA captures first images of Venus’ glowing surface

The sun released a “significant” X-class solar flare early this morning, NASA said.

The Solar Dynamics Observatory, which watches the sun constantly, photographed the event.

Solar flares are intense bursts of radiation.

While the radiation can’t penetrate into the Earth’s atmosphere to physically harm humans it can disturb the atmospheric layer where GPS and communications signals travel.

The flare was classified as an X1-class flare.

X-class denotes the most intense flares, NASA said.
