Sea-Tac: A transfer to JBLM

Perhaps the editorial will assist pull the Seattle Port Commissioners’ heads out of the sand.

Sea-Tac can not assist projected will increase in passengers. In 2015, Sea-Tac served 42 million passengers. The port’s grasp plan initiatives 66 million by 2034. So what to do? Negotiate with the Washington congressional delegation to maneuver Joint Base Lewis-McChord to Moses Lake, one of many largest industrial airports west of the Mississippi, with an underutilized 13,500-foot primary runway, one of many longest within the nation, and much nearer to the Yakima Training Center. Eastern Washington may use the “business.” Then transfer Sea-Tac to JBLM, served by a rapid-transit system from Seattle, Tacoma and Olympia.

In addition, as a resident 16 miles north of Sea-Tac, in 2012 I efficiently appealed our property-tax evaluation leading to a property-tax discount as a consequence of Sea-Tac overflight air site visitors noise. This discount in property values all through Seattle as a consequence of Sea-Tac is an unacknowledged value of the port’s third runway.
