The Chase fans were left gobsmacked as contestant Fiona appeared on Thursday’s (February 10) programme, as she bore an uncanny resemblance to one EastEnders legend.
Eagle-eyed viewers thought the player looked indistinguishable from EastEnders star June Brown – who was better known for her role as Dot Cotton on the famous soap.
Convinced that Dot had made a cheeky appearance on the ITV programme, online users swarmed Twitter pointing out how much they looked alike.
One person penned: “Go on Dot Cotton going high on #TheChase.”
Another remarked: “Dot Cotton on #TheChase, as a third wondered: “Is that Dot Cotton on the The Chase?”
While a fourth was seemingly annoyed over the amount of memes and images of the actress that were popping up on Twitter after Fiona’s appearance.
They wrote: “Hope somebody posts a Dot Cotton picture. #TheChase.”
Fiona decided to “go big or go home” and took Shaun Wallace’s higher offer on the table which was £45,000.
Even though Fiona put up a good fight, she was no match for The Destroyer who out played her at the final hurdle.
Host Bradley Walsh praised Fiona for taking a shot at the large numbers he said: “I would have done the same too.”
The brave contestant added: “I had to really, we only had £1000 in the prize pot.”
Libbie had been the only successful player to bank any cash as the Chaser was on fire with his questions.
Facing Shaun alone, Libbie gave it her all and answered ten questions correctly in the final round.
But The Dark Destroyer who had a solid performance throughout proved to be triumphant one more time.
It comes after host Bradley Walsh was forced to step in during tense scenes of the ITV quiz to ask a player to “settle down”.
Brad asked contestant Bob: “Concerning the number of electrons surrounding an atom, the octet rule is an important concept in which of the sciences?”
Bob responded with the correct answer which was chemistry, but appeared a little too enthusiastic in explaining why he opted for that choice.
The enthusiasm led Bradley to reply: “Alright! Settle down, Bob. You could have just said it was chemistry.”
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
